Local Singaporeans will participate on the event to add Malay usage examples in English Wiktionary. The event will be simultaneously held as Wiktionary Basics Workshop for Wikimania participants. Room 311, Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre Wikimania participants may register in the Google Form for the event to receive e-certificates from the organiser.
16 August 2023, Wednesday (1000-1630) Let's Connect/Leadership Development Working Group x Wikimania 2023 Let's Connect and the Leadership Development Working Group are bringing 3 fun and interactive peer learning Learning Clinics for Wikimania 2023.

Please note that this series will be more useful for Wikimedians engaging in "organised work". 20th August, 2023 (0930-1630 SGT) Knowledge Beyond Boundaries: Strengthening Wikimedia and Libraries Note: Registrations closed, please wait for the confirmation email Wikimania 2023 in collaboration with the National Library Board, Singapore is hosting a side event where different Wikimedia projects and Libraries will converge to discuss advances made in knowledge sharing and accessibility. Level 5, The Imagination Room, The National Library of Singapore, Lee Kong Chian Reference Library This special gathering provides us with an opportunity to learn and hear about the innovative projects, partnerships, and initiatives that highlight the effective leveraging of Wikimedia and Libraries: whether using state-of-the-art OCR for free with WikiSource, connecting our collections with the largest Linked Open Data database (Wikidata) or enriching the biggest online Encyclopedia (Wikipedia).

Wikimania 2023 is being hosted in Singapore, a country full of rich diversity, culture, and traditions. The Wikimania COT has been working with multiple local partners to enrich the experience of the Wikimedians traveling for Wikimania to Singapore and has curated the following tours/experiences for you all.

  • While most of the tours are free, some of them are subject to payment to the organizer

Tours by MyCommunity

In partnership with MyCommunity a non-profit organization that works to capture and preserve community stories, reconnect people to places and social networks, and deepen heritage appreciation and expression across the country and advocates for greater community involvement in cultural management and urban governance processes.

We have curated a list of three tours that have been customized to a 90-minute duration in locations that are in close proximity to the attendee hotels and Suntec. (Please note: The tour stops/flow will be different from the one listed on MyCommunity's website as we have reduced the duration to accommodate for our attendees).

Tours by The National Heritage Board

Discounted Tour of the National Museum

Through our partnership with the National Heritage Board, we have secured a 20% discount for all attendees of Wikimania 2023.

The National Museum of Singapore is the nation's oldest museum that seeks to inspire with stories of Singapore and the world. Its history dates back to 1849.

Known then as the Raffles Library and Museum, the museum moved to its current premises on Stamford Road in 1887.

Discount Terms

The discount applies to the Permanent galleries or Special Exhibitions Adult tickets. And is open to any walk-ins who are carrying their Wikimania 2023 ID cards along with the lanyard.

Important Note: The discount is not applicable for combined tickets of Permanent galleries & Special Exhibitions or all-access tickets, as they are already discounted.
