Congrats! Your poster has been accepted for Wikimania 2019
editHi IvaBerlin,
Congratulations! Your poster has been accepted for Wikimania 2019. Now what?
Start designing your poster. Remember that this is an academic poster, not a promotional one: this means that you have to share insights, technical aspects, numbers, and any technical information that would allow a participant to understand your process better. For more information about academic posters, and examples that will inspire you, please visit the Poster session page.
If you'd like us to print the poster for you, please send it by Sunday, July 21st. We'll also take care of bringing the poster to the conference, and this option is at no cost to you. Find information about where to send your poster here.
Finally, on the day of the poster session, remember that every poster presenter is expected to stand by their poster and engage session participants in conversation about it. We will not display posters whose presenters are not in the room at the time of the session.
Thank you for submitting a proposal and making Wikimania more diverse! We look forward to seeing you in a few months,
María Cruz

Ein bisschen Kultur
editHallo IvaBerlin, ich habe gesehen, dass Du Dich auf 2019:Related_activities/City_tours/Signup#Royal_Armoury_City_tour_at_10.00–12.00 eingetragen hast. Wäre 2019:Related_activities/City_tours/Signup#Hallwyl_Museum_tour_at_16.00–17.00 nicht auch etwas für Dich? Diese Ausstellung könnte DIch evtl. interessieren ... --Brackenheim (talk) 14:43, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
Gern geschehen ;-) Grüße --Brackenheim (talk) 15:37, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
Experience at Wikimania
editHello IvaBerlin, thank you for reaching out to me on my talk page, and providing some key information. I've been editing for a bit over a year in Wikipedia, but I am still new to it, and I found helpful items in the tips you sent. I think I may have met you at Wikimania--were you on the Culture Crawl that started at 8:50 at the historical museum? You asked about sessions I attended and my experience at Wikimania. I thought it was all a fascinating and helpful experience and a wonderful chance to meet people from all over the world. I was mostly in the Education, Libraries, and Research track programs, and I was on an Education panel and gave a session in the Libraries track. I am looking forward to exploring sessions I couldn't get to, and seeing what is available for them online. I also found out about 2 educational opportunities/templates for teaching Wikipedia editing, which will be so helpful. The only slight disappointment was the women's lunch, because the room wasn't conducive to it and the noise level was so high it was hard to connect with people sitting further away. Do you have any recommendations for how I might get more involved with other women who work in Wikipedia or other Wiki platforms? Thank you so much for contacting me. The Wikimedia project called "The AfroCine Project"
editGreetings!
Apologies for cross-posting. After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000. About 9 in-person events were also organised for the edit-a-thon in different parts of the world.
The contest is organized by a Wikimedia project called "The AfroCine Project",(https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_AfroCine_Project) which is dedicated to improving the coverage of the history, works, people, places, and events, that are associated with the cinema, theatre and arts of Africa, African countries, the Caribbean, and the diaspora.
If you would love to join this exciting event, please list your username as a participant on the English Wikipedia contest page. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_AfroCine/Months_of_African_Cinema#Participants) If you would love to lead this contest for your country or community, please list your name in the coordinators page here.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_AfroCine/Coordinators) The rapid grants team would be accepting proposals throughout October and November, in case you'd need funds to run local edit-a-thons or some other activities related to this event. Upon listing your name on the coordinators' page, you'd be contacted to talk about the resources you'd need to run the event in your community. You can also contact me directly for any clarifications.
Finally, We also need volunteers to handle some aspects of the AfroCine project. These aspects include:
1. Community Liaison: This role essentially involves closely engaging with local communities to support their activities within the scope of Afrocine.
2. Communications: This involves the communications aspects of the project. Sharing relevant information on mailing lists and social media would be the responsibility of this person.
3. MAC Jury: This role involves joining the jury of Months of African Cinema contest. We need as many people as we can get 🙂.
4. Tools: Going forward, we would need relevant tools to better track the metrics and also analyse the general impact of these events. We are calling for Wikimedia volunteers who can navigate wikimedia tools that can be useful for the project.
If you would love to help with any of these roles, or some other roles that have not been mentioned, please contact me directly or on: samoye_@hotmail.com
If you have further questions, complaints, suggestions, etc., please reach out to me personally or right here or the project talkpages.
Thank you! Wikipedia
