2019:Quality/Find link: a tool for adding links between articles
This is a Closed submission for Wikimania 2019. It has been reviewed and was not accepted. |
Description
editI'v written a tool, find link, for adding links between articles in Wikipedia. Given an article title it will find other articles that could link to it. It works by using the Wikipedia search engine, then filtering out results that already include a link.
I plan to talk about why I created the tool, how it works and things I've learned while working on it.
Relationship to the theme
editThis session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner:
More links in articles help readers to discover other relevant articles. This will assist in education and lifelong learning which is SDG goal 4 (ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all).
Session outcomes
editAt the end of the session, the following will have been achieved:
More people will know how to use the tool and see how tools can be used to increase the quality of Wikipedia.
