Wikipedia is a tremendous tool for studying and teaching in this digital age. This session's goal is to explain Wikipedia's use in the classroom, its advantages, and its academic value. The ideal training for teachers that aims to enhance media and literacy skills is Reading Wikipedia in the classroom.

Description

Wikipedia is a significant public source of free internet knowledge, providing neutral, unbiased, and high-quality information. After the pandemic, it is essential for everyone to use open educational resources to expand their learning. Wikipedia is one of the most reliable open educational resources for both teachers and students. Students can use Wikipedia as their learning tool and teachers used it as a teaching tool. To introduce Wikipedia in the classroom, the first step is to train teachers and teacher educators to develop their media and literacy skills. The objectives of this session focused on: 1. Wikipedia research studies are employed in academic contexts. 2. Reading Wikipedia in the classroom i.e. Accessing, Evaluating, and Creating Information. 3. The significance of Wikipedia in education.
