Abstract & description
editAbstract
editThis roundtable discussion will be an opportunity for different Wikisource contributors, developers, and partners to get together and discuss the future of Wikisource.
Description
editThe global Wikisource community has been working on a wide range of initiatives; from organizing inter-community proofreading competitions & creating audiobooks to digitizing manuscripts and handwritten texts. There have been a lot of technical improvements on Wikisource in the recent years, either led by community developers, or supported by Wikimedia affiliates (like Wikimedia Italy) or the Wikimedia Foundation.
The first half of the meeting will be used for introductions and sharing recent tech & non-tech developments on Wikisource. This would be an opportunity to form inter-community collaborations.
The second half will be used to strategically think about the future of Wikisource as a project and as a global community.
Some of the questions to discuss would be: 1. How does the global Wikisource community support budding Wikisource projects? 2. Should there be a single centralized Wikisource like Wikidata or Commons? 3. How can the federated model be further supported?
