Abstract & description edit

Abstract edit

Our World in Data does amazing work around data visualization. This will be a look at a multi year effort to integrate this material into Mediawiki and by extension Wikipedia. And future improvements we hope to make.

Description edit

Tools for data visualization within Wikipedia are currently limited. This talk will look at efforts to leverage work by Our World in Data and integrate their interactive graphs within the Mediawiki environment.

Currently we have a mirror running on WMF servers and the graphs live on MDWiki, an example of which can be seen here https://mdwiki.org/wiki/Asthma#Epidemiology

There is consensus to add these graphs to Basque Wikipedia. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T303853 There are still a few technical hurdles before this can be realized.
