Abstract & description
editAbstract
editExplaining the first year of the pilot programme of the training for boarding school students and the future of the programme.
Description
editThe training programme first started as a collaboration with the local district education office in Malaysia to train boarding school students with Wikimedia projects. The aim of the lecture is to give an insight of the project and the potential it can give to other communities to try it out as boarding school students usually do not have anything much activities to do in their dormitory. The lecture will also present the plan for the future of this project.
Further details
editQn. How does your session relate to the event themes: Diversity, Collaboration Future?
The session fits all the three themes. In Diversity, the students were primarily focused on editing indigenous languages in Malaysia as the students come from many ethnicities. In Collaboration, this project is a collaboration with the Sandakan District Education Office and the project is impossible to be implemented without them. For future, we are dealing with youths and school students. The project trains them so that they would be interested in editing Wikipedia in the future.
