Abstract & description edit

Abstract edit

This world has many languages, including in Indonesia which has hundreds of local languages. However, there are still difficulties in writing scientific terms into the local language. Hopefully there is a Wiki project that can accommodate this.

Description edit

As we know, Indonesia has hundreds of languages, of which Indonesian is the language of unity. However, I often have difficulty writing scientific words such as chemical names, animal species names, and so on. This is probably also felt by many Wikimedia volunteers in other countries who sometimes have difficulty translating these names into local languages. The hope is that in this session I can give my ideas to Wikimedia to create a Wiki service that can accommodate scientific terms that have been translated into local languages so that there is uniformity in writing in all Wiki projects in Local Language.

Further details edit

Qn. How does your session relate to the event themes: Diversity, Collaboration Future?

I tell this because I once wrote an article on the Banjar Language Wikipedia, where I had difficulty writing scientific terms. Perhaps some of the attendees experienced something similar when writing the term into their local language. The hope is that there is a wiki project that can deal with this problem so that people don’t find it difficult when writing these terms on various occasions.

Qn. What is the experience level needed for the audience for your session?

Everyone can participate in this session

Qn. What is the most appropriate format for this session?

  •   Onsite in Singapore
  •   Remote online participation, livestreamed
  •   Remote from a satellite event
  •   Hybrid with some participants in Singapore and others dialing in remotely
  •   Pre-recorded and available on demand
