Abstract
edit Around the world, cultural heritage institutions (GLAMs) face many difficulties in realizing their missions in the digital environment, mainly because of the undue barriers erected by outdated or unfit copyright law. These difficulties in turn pose a threat to individuals' rights to culture and education.
For Creative Commons, copyright must be reformed to be conducive to GLAMs’ missions. This session aims to gather experiences of on-the-ground national copyright reform to help us move from theory (see CC's paper Towards Better Sharing of Cultural Heritage - An agenda for copyright reform https://creativecommons.org/2022/04/04/cc-publishes-policy-paper-titled-towards-better-sharing-of-cultural-heritage-an-agenda-for-copyright-reform/) to practice in order to address the urgent need of realizing open culture for all.
