There are three days of Wikimania 2022 in-person events in London, United Kingdom, hosted by various members of the Wikimedia community in the UK. This page collects the programme and key links to all events.

Friday 12th August, Newspeak House (also online) edit

  • Location: Newspeak House (133-135 Bethnal Green Road, London, England E2 7DG). Also open for online participation.
  • Time: 2pm - at least 5:30pm
  • Organizer: Wikimedia UK
  • Format: Wikimania festivities, community meet up, training sessions, lightning talks.

  • In person: Newspeak House open for Co-working spaces - work, watch Wikimania sessions, join the online Hackathon and network with community peers
  • Online: Zoom Event open for Lobby space and Expo - network with community peers and explore some of Wikimedia UK's projects
  • Online and in person: One to One Wiki Clinics - book yourself some time in-person or online to chat with a Wikimedian and help resolve wiki challenges you are facing.

2:30pm - 4pm

  • Wikidata for Wizards
    • Speakers: Nav Evans, Simon Cobb
    • For advanced Wikidata querying
    • (Slides)

4pm - 5:30pm

  • Online and In person: Wikidata for Beginners
    • Speaker: Martin Poulter
    • A session to understand what Wikidata is capable of, what a knowledge graph is, and getting started with using the Wikidata Query Service. It assumes no prior knowledge of databases or querying.

5:30pm

  • In person: Early evening drinks

Saturday 13th August, Newspeak House (also online) edit

12 noon Proposed timing

  • Online and In person: Oliver Marsh on Wikipedia and Information Warfare. Oliver has written on technology policy for CASM, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, and the Tony Blair Institute, and has a PhD in sociology of social media from UCL Science and Technology Studies. He is a Demos Fellow, and a Policy Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.  

1pm - 5pm

  • Online and In person: Editathon/ Wikithon - In honour of South Asian Heritage Month, we will be taking South Asian Heritage as our theme for this one off Wikithon. The session is suitable for beginners (training given) and more experienced editors.

1:30pm - 2:30pm

  • Online and in person: One to One Wiki Clinics - book yourself some time in-person or online to chat with a Wikimedian and help resolve wiki challenges you are facing.

2:30pm - 3:30pm

  • Online and In person: Lightning Talks - Hear from community peers about Virtual Volunteering, Decolonising Wikipedia Network, WikiJournals and more.

  • Online and In person: Annual UK Awards - celebrate with us as we award Wikimedian of the Year, UK Partnership of the Year and Up and Coming Wikimedian.
  • In person: After Party drinks

Sunday 14th August, Penderel's Oak edit

  • Location: Penderel's Oak Pub, Holborn, London WC1
  • Time: 1pm onwards
  • Format: London Wikimedia Meetup

  • Important to note: Location is in a public pub. Alcohol consumption is optional. Join at any time you can, no need to stay for the whole afternoon
