2021:Submissions/Email campaigning for onboarding new volunteers
Speakers
editAbstract
editTo attract new editors to Wikipedia, the new editor’s team at WMDE developed a new format in 2020: A 30 day email campaign. This campaign is special, because it combines activating interested people and also onboarding them into Wikipedia. For 30 days, the subscribers receive information about the "Wikiverse" and are slowly introduced to editing. In this session we want to share our learnings and key takeaways from this campaign, which we think can be used as a model for similar formats.
Session Outcomes
editThe session is aimed at all people interested in newcomer recruitment formats in Wikimedia projects. We will present a project of the German chapter, which in our opinion can be adapted worldwide without any major resources - or be an inspiration for similar projects. In the learnings to be shared, we will refer to this adaptability. And of course there is time for questions and discussion.
I'm planning to attend this session live!
