We will discuss the framing of OKNs, current equivalents like Wikidata and iNaturalist, and current initiatives to expand these and form a federated network of public knowledge and interfaces, for humans + cyborgs + machines alike.

This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner:
Scope, education, and local capacity building all depend on this being accessible, flexible, inexpensive to access, sensible to use.

At the end of the session, the following will have been achieved:
Participants will have learned about current efforts to develop knowledge networks from heterogenous collections, and have shared those they are part of.
